MY HEALTH JOURNEY
I was diagnosed with the trifecta of asthma, allergies and atopic dermatitis (eczema) at age 10. I cured my asthma through a consistent raw food diet for 2 years in my early 20’s and lived symptom-free for over a decade until a flare-up in my early 30’s.
At age 19, I found natural medicine based on whole food nutrition, herbs, detoxification and cleansing techniques. I also began doing yoga, breathwork and started running long distance again.
The holistic approach to my health and regimen made a huge difference in my quality of life and happiness. It was as if all the suffocation, wheezing, coughing had disappeared, and my energy, vitality and overall essence was alive again!
But healing is rarely linear. My symptoms returned after a few physical and emotional uncontrollable circumstances occurred in my life:
I was told it was an unavoidable requirement to receive the Hepatitis B vaccine to enter clinic while in med school. There is research that shows the vaccine increases allergic inflammation in the body. (Source 1, 2)
Shortly after the series of vaccines, my sister passed away suddenly without warning. I was also in my third year of medical school where the stress was over the top.
I have since lived the past 10 years managing my own condition of chronic asthma that now very rarely affects my quality of life. What you’re about to learn is a proven path to healing.
TREAT THE PROBLEM AT THE ROOT
The naturopathic approach that I offer focuses on treating the root cause of your health concerns – not just put another band-aid on your symptoms.
The approach is all encompassing, meaning we treat all the systems that affect your health, supporting your body in detoxifying and cleansing itself internally.
The lungs, liver, colon, skin, and kidneys all are vital to the flow of fluids and energy throughout the body. If any one organ or system is sluggish or not functioning correctly, this will affect all the systems. The body will always attempt to correct the imbalance through homeostasis.
The idea of detoxification and cleansing is to correct the original imbalance in the system, the root cause, so the other organs can revert to normal.
For example, if your colon is stagnant and there is dysbiosis in the gut, the liver will have to work harder to detoxify the colon. Stress on the liver then puts stress on the gallbladder and kidneys to pick up the slack and move the stagnation.
When your colon is clear, the water and nutrients the colon absorbs can adequately handle normal body load of daily toxin accumulation and digestion. When the colon is congested and there is mucous or debri along the wall of the intestines, the body is unable to properly absorb through the intestinal wall, hence limiting the nutrients available for normal biochemical processes.
RELIEVING THE TOXIC BURDEN
The truth is we are exposed and accumulate toxins on a daily basis regardless of how conscious we are. This is why regular detoxification is beneficial to maintain a healthy balanced body, mind, and spirit.
Many of the nutrients received by the body can be used up quickly and inefficiently when the body has a high toxin burden. When we support our bodies with regular cleansing and detoxification, we can effectively reduce the toxic burden and prevent further toxic build up.
The process of detoxification is a series of biochemical reactions that deactivate toxins and eliminates them from the body through the main organs of detoxification: the skin, liver, kidneys, and intestines.
Cleansing regularly improves the overall elimination of toxins from the body, leaving the body feeling more balanced and whole.
SYMPTOMS OF TOXICITY
According to the Global Healing Center, it is not uncommon to be exposed to over 2,100,000 toxins on a daily basis from the clothes we wear, contaminants in the air, and what we consume.
Even with the increase in diseases and health issues occurring in these times, toxic loads often go unrecognized by most individuals.
So what can we do to help remove these toxins and help our bodies to function properly?
